About YVAA Artist Aubrey Sanchez

Although she grew up in both Yucaipa and Redlands, Aubrey Sanchez has called Yucaipa her home since 2004. She is a self-taught artist who has been exhibiting locally since 2012. Much of her work includes mixed media paintings that are vibrant in color, texture, and meaning. While keeping ink & watercolor as a favorite combination, she is constantly experimenting with various mediums like liquid oils and acrylic sand to create a wide array of subject matter. Several of her pieces over the years have incorporated words, like poetry, lyrics, and quotes–some credited to others, but at times, words of her own. This love of words has led to another venture of children's book writing and illustrating, with the goal of completing her first book, "A Cat Named Fish," in the coming year. While working full-time at Redlands Print & Design for over 26 years, she's also been an active member of Yucaipa Valley Art Association and Redlands Art Association. With the unwavering support of her husband,  she has continued to share her artwork with the community, many times exhibiting alongside her own daughter, Morgan. When not working or painting, she enjoys time spent with family and friends, date nights and nature walks with her husband, trips to Laguna Beach to visit her daughter, and taking too many photos of her cats.

Aubrey Sanchez's work has been featured in numerous festivals like the Yucaipa Music & Art Festival, Art for Heaven's Sake Juried Art Festival, Redlands Art in the Park, Red Dirt Art Festival, Art on State St. & Art in the Wildlands. Juried Shows: National Orange Show All California Juried Art Exhibition, Redlands Art Association MMM Show (2025 Award of Excellence) and many more.

Over the years, she's donated numerous paintings for fundraising efforts to: The American Heart Association, Bonnes Meres, Big Hearts for Little Hearts, Redlands Conservancy, Kimberly Crest, Associates of the Redlands Bowl, and Yucaipa VisionQuest.

About Artist Morgan McCloskey

Morgan McCloskey is a young up-and-coming artist who grew up in Yucaipa. Since childhood, she has had a fascination with video games, especially classics like Zelda and Mario, the ocean and its creatures, cats (especially her own), and a passion for creating art. As time went on crayons were no longer her medium of choice, so along with learning traditional art mediums, she began teaching herself digital art at the age of 13. Thriving in her school’s art classes at Park View Middle School and Yucaipa High School, two stand-out art teachers, Mr. Justin Healy and Mr. Brad Hicks, were instrumental in her artistic journey, providing a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for her potential as an artist. Thanks in part to this support, Morgan began showing and selling her work at local festivals including Yucaipa Music & Arts Festival, Red Dirt Art Festival, and Redlands Art in the Park as well as gallery spaces through Redlands Art Association, Yucaipa VisionQuest (where she also volunteered as an assistant for children’s art classes), and San Bernardino Art Association.  Her work is still shown regularly at Redlands Art Association, an organization which has been a priceless source of experience, encouragement, and support.

Morgan later graduated from Yucaipa High School with honors in 2023 and was the recipient of Yucaipa Valley Art Association’s annual scholarship. During the following year, she attended Crafton Hills College, taking general English and art history courses while strengthening her portfolio. She applied to her dream school, Laguna College of Art & Design, where she was not only accepted, but also the sole recipient of a full ride scholarship for her chosen major. She now resides in Laguna Beach, nearing the end of her sophomore year and working toward her bachelor’s degree in Game Art. When not busy with studying and working on school projects, she enjoys time with friends, attending conventions, and, of course, playing video games. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in the video game industry designing characters as a 2D concept artist. As it has been since childhood, the proceeds from her art sales will go directly toward her savings and college living expenses.

About the Artist

We are so fortunate that Debra is a member of YVAA and that we have had the privilege of seeing her amazing multi-media art on display at our events. Debra received the Artist of the Year Award this January 2026, acknowledging her as the winner for her regular monthly art show entries and ribbon wins in the various categories that members can enter in during the 2025 season.

Before retiring as floral designer, Debra Wick enrolled in watercolor classes, approximately 12 years ago, from then on, she was hooked!  She studied watercolor techniques under the tutelage of Ed Sotello and Holly Warner. There was so much to learn and so many “rules” to break.  As she progressed, she joined the Redlands Art Association to show her art in their gallery. Debra is also a member of the Pomona Valley Art Association, Loma Linda Art Association and Yucaipa Valley Art Association where she has the opportunity to show her art in their respective art shows as well as juried shows.

For Debra, beauty and color uplift the human spirit as they draw us into the awe and wonder of God’s creation. This is Debra’s aim which she pursues in her paintings and it is the reason that she shares her art with others. Debra likes to work in various mediums, including watercolor, acrylics and alcohol inks because they produce bold colors or interesting atmospheres of the subjects that intrigue her and stimulate her creative juices to put art to paper or canvas.

Congratulations to this very talented artist! We have enjoyed seeing her amazing and creative art throughout the year and at other community events!
